As the Chief Executive Officer of the Sugar Group Companies, Gunawan Jusuf doesn’t’ just run one company, really. He actually oversees the operations of several Indonesia-based companies that grow and refine sugar to create many different food products, many of which are enormously popular. In addition to many plantations and refineries located throughout the country, Sugar Group Companies operates from nearly a dozen offices located all over Indonesia.
From his perch at the head of the Sugar Group Companies, Gunawan Jusuf has helped to create enormous growth of many products, especially Gulaku, which is a premium refined sugar product that is a household name all over Indonesia. That’s not the only product, however, it’s just the most popular. What makes him a good leader comes with his ability to make sure that every employee, subsidiary company and the various offices and plants are all synchronized and working as a unit that marks Gunawan Jusuf’s greatest accomplishment as Sugar Group Companies’ leader.
He is also an author. Gunawan Jusuf recently published a book entitled Blue Gold, which is an important discussion of the relative scarcity and the high value of water as our most important and precious commodity. He understands better than most how precious and valuable natural resources can be to both humanity and business.
